guitarist singer songwriter Mat TREIBER was born may 9, 1979 in montreal.he plays old school rock n roll, speaks fluent french, and holds three passports.“the Mat TREIBER group” has been through a lot of incarnations since Mat, at 19, wearing a keith richards t-shirt, left his hometown for the big apple and beyond. he has recorded and entertained excited audiences at clubs in nyc, la and london. his fusion of head-turning guitar solos and lyrical, song-oriented rock with 60’s british and 50’s american influences is a timeless recipe for feel-good music.
performing as a trio, as was passionately suggested to him by legendary rocker terry reid, who introduced him at a show in los angeles, Mat has attracted a good deal of attention and cred. brit rock writer terry rawlings has said TREIBER reminds him of a young peter frampton and Mats even gotten to play keith richards guitars! chuck berry’s publishers have said, “this is the kid who could do it.” (cover a chuck berry song?!)
but TREIBER himself finds his favorite moments in life are ones which have to do with the actual music. one show at johnny depp’s viper room in hollywood had a young man rush from the toilets to see “who was playing guitar like that,” as he told Mat afterward. another new fan in London screamed after a show, “come back here or i’ll kill you!”
